I am fast becoming a fan of Adam Conover, in no small part because of this incredible speech to Animation Guild picketers, but this latest episode of his “Factually” podcast is fantastic.
I regret that I was not familiar with Elle Reeve, the journalist who says she has given roughly a decade to studying the alt-right and online communities. Her thesis (that the toxic culture of 4chan, 8chan, and other online forums in the last two decades has become the de facto dynamic of the Republican Party) is dead-on accurate, and something I myself have written about on more than one occasion.
I definitely recommend giving it a watch/listen.
